The ASUO serves as a hub of student leadership and community engagement. There are hundreds of opportunities to engage with the ASUO from serving as an elected official, participating on a university committee, to sharing a common interest with an ASUO-Recognized Student Organization. The ASUO is committed to a culture of diverse opinions and expressions, teamwork, and collaborative leadership.
ASUO Street Faire
Everyone is welcome at ASUO’s bi-annual Street Faire, which brings the campus community together in support of food and fun. Proceeds from the fair help to fund food security endeavors for University of Oregon students. By participating, vendors and attendees are helping to ensure that Ducks don’t go hungry.
Serve as an Officer or Committee Member
Engage directly in democratic governance as an ASUO officer, a member of a university committee, or by serving on an advisory board. These experiences are a great way to gain leadership skills and to develop professional relationships with key community members.
Engage in a Campaign
ASUO members have power to influence what happens on campus. You will have a say in funding decisions and access to a powerful platform to make your voice heard. Tackle the issues you are passionate about and create concrete change.
Work for SGES
Paid position to help SGES coordinate wrap-around support, services, and education related to student government activity and the I-Fee. Student employees gain competitive post-grad employment skills.
Join a Student Organization
ASUO supports over 200 student organizations. From improv and environmental justice to advertising and women in sports media, there is a huge variety of clubs to choose from. Explore your interests and find your community here.
Start a Student Organization
Can't find what you're looking for in existing organizations? Start your own club, and register to be recognized by the ASUO for funding and support services. Starting your own club, or getting involved in an existing one, provides major opportunities for learning and personal growth.
Get Involved
We understand not everyone has time for a full commitment, but that shouldn't stop you from making your voice heard. Reach out to your representatives to discuss issues and solutions you have for the campus. You can also volunteer part time to try out the ASUO on a temporary basis. Just tell us what you're interested in and we'll find opportunities that match!
Civic Engagement
ASUO partners with the university and the Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement to encourage civic participation among students.
