ASUO Elections
The Associated Students of the University of Oregon (ASUO) is the student government that represents UO students and oversees student-funded programs, services, and initiatives.
Each spring, ASUO holds a campus-wide election where students:
- Elect student government leaders, and
- Vote on initiatives and referenda (policy questions placed on the ballot) that shape student life.
All ASUO Members—currently enrolled UO students who have been assessed the Incidental Fee—are eligible to participate.
Vote in the 2026 ASUO Election
Voting period: Monday, April 6 at 9:00 a.m. – Friday, April 10 at noon
How to vote:
- Vote online using the official election link, or
- Vote in person using a paper ballot at the ASUO Suite during regular business hours.
Election results:
The Elections Board is a student-led body that administers ASUO elections and enforces election rules. The Elections Board will endeavor to post results by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10.

Official Election Events
These events are hosted by the ASUO Elections Board as part of the 2026 Spring Election. Attendance requirements vary by position and are enforced under ASUO Election Rules. Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates are required to participate in the All-Candidate Debate.

ASUO:
- oversees more than $10 million annually, and
- supports more than 200 student organizations.
Students from all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to participate. No prior experience is required.
Serving in an ASUO leadership role allows you to:
- build leadership and governance experience,
- influence campus priorities and policy,
- collaborate with peers and university leaders, and
- receive a monthly stipend for your service.

All candidates and campaign managers are responsible for understanding and following the ASUO Election Rules. These materials support fair and compliant campaigns.

Run for a Legislative Position
(Student Senate and At-Large Finance Committee)
As a Senator or At-Large Finance Committee Member, you may:
- draft, debate, and vote on policy,
- allocate ASUO funds,
- confirm appointments and pass resolutions, and
- advocate for student interests.
Monthly stipend: $400–$1,120 (varies by position)
How to run:
- File by Thursday, March 19 at noon
- Campaign (optional) beginning Monday, March 30
- Attend the Candidate Town Hall (see Official Election Events)
- Submit Contribution & Expenditure Forms as required

Run for an Executive Position
(ASUO President or ASUO President and Vice-President Filing Jointly)
The ASUO President and Vice President serve as the primary representatives of the student body and oversee the Executive Branch of ASUO.
Monthly stipend:
- President, $1,300
- Vice President, $1,150
Required events:
Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates are required to attend the All-Candidate Debate listed in the Official Election Events section above.

Get Involved as a Campaign Manager or Slate Member
A Slate is a group of candidates who choose to campaign together under a shared name and shared campaign strategy. Campaign Managers and Slate Members play a critical role in campaign organization and compliance.
Key details:
- No deadline to file as a Campaign Manager
- March 19 at noon – Deadline to file a Slate
- March 30 – Campaigning begins

Propose a Ballot Measure or Referendum
A ballot measure is a question placed on the election ballot to gauge student opinion or amend ASUO governing documents.
Ballot measures may take the form of:
- an initiative, proposed directly by students through a signature-collection process, or
- a referendum, placed on the ballot through the student government process.
Ballot measure deadlines:
- February 17 by 5:00 p.m. – Submit proposed language to Constitution Court
- March 9 by 5:00 p.m. – Eligible officials request Senate consideration
- March 11 – Final day for Student Senate to vote on court-approved measures
- March 16 at 9:00 a.m. – Deadline to withdraw referendum-based measures
- March 19 at noon – Deadline to file court-approved ballot measures
Initiative ballot measures filed by petition may not be withdrawn.
